What happened

Monogatari Corporation, which runs the Yakiniku King barbecue restaurant chain, said on October 5, 2026 that an outsider accessed the member management system of the Yakiniku King official app on October 2, and that it confirmed a leak on October 3. Of the app's 10,808,784 registered users, 10,788,963 had data leaked: member numbers, names (as registered in the app), email addresses and phone numbers. Login passwords, dates of birth, gender, postal codes and store usage history including points were not leaked, and the company does not hold payment card data. It said it had found no sign the data had been published or misused.

What should I do?

  1. Expect phishing emails and texts that use the Yakiniku King name, such as fake coupons or reservation notices, and don't open links in them.
  2. Be wary of calls to your registered phone number from people claiming to be Yakiniku King; the company says it never asks for passwords or card details.
  3. Use the official app or website directly for reservations and coupons.
