What happened
TUI confirmed to Belgian media on October 10, 2026 that it was investigating a data leak after Belgian travelers received WhatsApp and email messages quoting their full names, booked hotels and exact travel dates, and in some cases booking amounts. The messages asked people to follow links to 'confirm' reservations, give payment details or make advance payments. TUI has not said how many customers are affected, which data was exposed or how the leak happened, and has not confirmed that the data in the scam messages came from it. It warned all customers not to open suspicious messages or make payments, and said Dutch customers did not appear to be affected.
What should I do?
- Do not pay or enter card details through links in WhatsApp, SMS or email messages about your trip, even if they show correct booking details.
- Check any request directly in the TUI app or your account at tui.be, or by calling TUI on a number you looked up yourself.
- If you already paid, contact your bank immediately and report the scam to the Belgian FPS Economy (pointdecontact.belgique.be).
