What happened

FELG Software, the Polish maker of the FELG Dent practice software used by about 16,000 dental practices, confirmed on October 1, 2026 that a hacker may have accessed personal data of patients that clinics entrusted to it. The company learned of the incident on September 28 and said the attacker demanded a ransom not to publish the data. Its CEO said a preliminary estimate, based partly on the attackers' own claims, is about 2 million patient records; the attackers claimed 2.4 million patients. Reported data includes names, PESEL numbers, addresses, phone numbers, medical details, e-prescriptions, e-sick-notes (e-ZLA) and insurance checks (eWUŚ). FELG reported the incident to prosecutors and contacted the data protection office (UODO).

What should I do?

  1. Place a free PESEL reservation (zastrzeżenie numeru PESEL) in mObywatel or at a municipal office to block loans and some contracts in your name.
  2. Consider BIK alerts so you are told if someone applies for credit using your details.
  3. Be wary of calls, texts and emails that mention your dentist, treatment or prescriptions and ask for payment, login details or codes.
  4. Ask your dental practice whether your data was in FELG Dent and what was notified to UODO.
