What happened
Farmers Insurance began notifying about 1.1 million customers in August 2025 that a third-party vendor database had been accessed on May 29, 2025. Exposed data included names, addresses, dates of birth, driver's license numbers and, for some people, the last four digits of their Social Security number. Reporting tied it to the wave of Salesforce data thefts that used social engineering.
What should I do?
- Freeze your credit for free at Equifax, Experian and TransUnion so no one can open new accounts in your name.
- Ask your state DMV about flagging your driver's license number if you see signs of misuse.
- Sign up for the free credit or identity monitoring offered in the notice letter before its enrollment deadline.
- Treat emails, texts and calls that mention Farmers Insurance, claims or policy renewals as suspect; don't click links or share codes, and contact the company through its official app or website.
