What happened

Japanese game publisher Capcom said on October 22, 2026 that an outside party gained unauthorized access to CAPCOM ID, the shared account used for its web services and some online games. It found and confirmed the intrusion on October 19. Email addresses and account data (creation date, last login time, number of logins and last-login IP address) were taken from 11,774,247 records worldwide; for 43 of them, date of birth, gender, country or region and nickname were also exposed. The attacker changed the passwords on 196 accounts, which Capcom has reset, but it found no leak of passwords set by customers, and credit card information was not affected.

What should I do?

  1. Treat emails that appear to come from Capcom with care, and don't open links or attachments in unexpected ones.
  2. Sign in to CAPCOM ID by typing the address yourself; if you can't log in, contact Capcom's support channel for your region.
  3. If you used your CAPCOM ID password elsewhere, change it there as a precaution.
  4. Turn on extra sign-in protection on the email account linked to your CAPCOM ID.
