What happened
Allianz Life, the US annuity and life insurance arm of Allianz, said a social-engineering attack on July 16, 2025 gave criminals access to a cloud-based CRM, exposing data on most of its roughly 1.4 million customers plus financial professionals and some staff. Leaked Salesforce tables later surfaced online, and Have I Been Pwned counted 1.1 million unique emails with names, addresses, phone numbers and birth dates. State filings indicated Social Security numbers were also involved.
What should I do?
- Freeze your credit for free at Equifax, Experian and TransUnion so no one can open new accounts in your name.
- Sign up for the free credit or identity monitoring offered in the notice letter before its enrollment deadline.
- Request an IRS Identity Protection PIN so nobody can file a tax return with your Social Security number.
- Treat emails, texts and calls that mention Allianz Life or your annuity as suspect; don't click links or share codes, and contact the company through its official app or website.
